Lychnis viscaria
[0.1 gram]

Lychnis viscaria

An attractive wild flower with bright pink flowers jump off the wooly silver gray foliage and transform this old-time cottage garden favorite into a dazzling runway fashion model. Plant in damp areas of the garden. Growing only 40-50cm tall, and hardier than other varieties, it will give you years of high-wattage beauty. Thrives in poor soils and both sun and partial shade.

Sow May-October in a coldframe, or direct in soil in autumn.
Sow Lychnis seeds onto the surface of a good, free-draining, damp, seed compost. Cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place sown container in a coldframe or seal inside a polythene bag and place at a temperature of 15-21C until after germination which usually takes 21-30 days. Alternatively sow seeds in the autumn, direct into the soil where they are to grow. Seedlings can be thinned the following spring if necessary.
