Perilla Dewdrop

Perilla is probably the most popular Japanese herb with a unique and subtle flavour, the leaves being used extensively to wrap sushi. The leaves, which are rich in calcium and iron, are used for seasoning, coloring, pickling and garnishing. They also are added to soups, tempura or dried and sprinkled over rice.

Sow seed on the surface of good, free-draining, seed compost. Cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag and place at 20-25C until germination which takes 14-21 days.
