Berberis amurensis
A large up to 3m tall deciduous woody shrub from the Amur region of Russia with perhaps the largest leaves of all the Berberis species. The pendulous racemes of creamy-yellow flowers are followed in autumn by very decorative and ornamental. The large oblong bright red fruits are eatable and used in preserves, deserts and as a spice. One plant produce 10-13kg of fruits a year.

Sow Berberis amurensis seeds in autumn outdoor or in spring on the surface of a well drained compost at about 10-20°C. The seeds need to be "overwintered" before they will germinate. Germination can be slow.
